CURRICULUM OVERVIEW

A bespoke journey for every learner at The Paddock.

Our curriculum is specifically designed to meet the Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs of our students. We combine core academic subjects with therapeutic interventions, ensuring that emotional regulation and well-being are at the forefront of every lesson, creating a supportive foundation for re-engagement.

The Paddock curriculum is grounded in a relational, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approach that prioritizes emotional safety, predictability, and empowerment. Our aim is to foster a nurturing environment where young people can develop resilience, self-awareness, and positive connections.

The curriculum integrates visual supports, consistent routines, and co-regulation strategies to meet diverse needs and promote holistic wellbeing.

It is designed to promote the Christian values of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

The ethos of The Paddock is to create a safe, inclusive space that values each young person's unique strengths and experiences. This approach encourages active participation, choice, and voice, ensuring that learning is meaningful and responsive to individual needs.

Our Curriculum Model

We offer a bespoke educational experience that recognizes where each student is on their developmental path. Our curriculum focuses on core subjects, a wellbeing support programme and a smooth transition back to school.

English and Maths

We will work closely with our commissioning schools to develop a bespoke curriculum for each young person in Maths and English.

This will form the basis of each young person's 'Five to Thrive' targets.

Options

We have the provision for a broad range of option subjects to support the work done by our commissioning schools.

We can have up to two additional 'Five to Thrive' targets.

We will work closely with our young people, their parents / carers and commissioning schools to make sure the transition back to school is  a success.

WELLBEING PROGRAMS & INTERVENTIONS

At The Paddock, we believe that education must be holistic. Our specialist interventions are designed to provide young people with the tools they need to navigate emotional challenges and rediscover their passion for learning.

Wellbeing programme

We have developed a research based, trauma informed programme for developing our young people's wellbeing. The Paddock encourages everyone to build a personal “toolkit” of things that help them feel steady, calm, and positive.

Emotional Literacy

Providing specialized SEMH support to help students understand and communicate their feelings.

Counselling

We have two counsellors who work with our young people throughout the day, and who can offer one to one therapy where needed.
